A fine M.M. group of five for saving lives under fire awarded to Lance Bombardier G. H. Price, Royal Artillery MILITARY MEDAL, G.VI.R. (162227 L/Bmbr., R.A.); 1939-45 STAR; FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR; DEFENCE and WAR MEDALS, very fine (5)

M.M., London Gazette, 24 January 1946: Gnr-L.Bdr George Henry Price, 27 L.A.A. Regiment, Royal Artillery. The following citation is taken from the official recommendation for the M.M.: 'L/Bdr Price has shown a very high standard of gallantry throughout the campaign. He is of a nervous disposition but when under fire has behaved magnificently and inspired those round him with confidence. On 9 September, 1944, at Beringen, this N.C.O. as Troop Medical Orderly crawled out some 800 yards under very heavy Spandau fire and succeeded in bringing in two badly wounded Dutch soldiers. About an hour later he evacuated a wounded gunner from his gun at a time when the gun was being heavily engaged by the enemy. Later under considerable mortar fire he crawled out 400 yards and rescued a R.T.R. man who was lying in the open. His behaviour was magnificent and the incident is not an isolated one but rather the peak of consistent brave conduct.'
