LIVERPOOL SHIPWRECK AND HUMANE SOCIETY, General Medal, silver (to Charles Draper, for Gallant Service 9th December 1914) with ribbon buckle in its case of issue, good very fine

'Silver General Medal, Certificate of Thanks, and two guineas, to Charles Draper, for a gallant attempt to save a fellow-workman fatally injured at the Canada Dock Overhead Railway Station, owing to falling accidentally from the platform onto the rails in front of an approaching train, on 9th December, 1914. Draper, seeing his comrade's perilous position, bravely jumped on to the line and tried to get the man clear in the few moments available, but failed to do so, and narrowly escaped losing his own life.'
