A superb Officer's Helmet of the Royal Horse Guards, Pattern of 1871, silvered skull, the brass helmet plate with oak and laurel leaves surrounding the collar chain of the Order of the Garter with Queen's crown over the applied Garter star, the pierced motto of the order on a blue enamel ground with the central cross of St. George in red enamel, a vertical band of stylised scallop shells up the back of the skull, plain burnished chain on velvet lined black leather secured with rosettes, original leather and silk lining, red horsehair plume, approximate height 41 cm, the whole in pristine condition
