Howard Blake Hobson died on active service on 17 April 1945, while serving as a Flight Sergeant and Air Gunner in No. 27 (S.A.A.F.) Squadron, a Ventura coastal reconnaissance unit operating out of Egypt. Aged just 18 years, he was the son of Arthur L. and Eleanor F. Hobson of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and was buried in Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery.
