23rd ???shire Rifle Volunteers, Hall Marked Silver Pouch Belt Plate and Bronze Shako Plate, the first of crowned coiled bugle horn format with small laurel sprays, in the centre is lodged ‘23’, two screw post fasteners hall marked Birmingham 1860 by S.B.W; the second of crowned strung bugle horn format with ‘23’ lodged within the strings, three loop fasteners, very good condition (2) £100-150

Several County Rifle Volunteer companies used this number including 23rd Devon (Chudleigh), 23rd Somerset (Wincanton), 23rd Lancashire (Ashton) and 23rd Lanarkshire (Glasgow - Warehouseman Company). The latter two companies were both raised in 1860.
