Ivor Eugene Laughlin was killed in action on 27 March 1944, when his Halifax of No. 10 Squadron was downed by flak or a night fighter during a sortie to Essen. Two members of his crew - Sergeant W. W. Formile and Flight Sergeant R. C. Corby - survived and evaded capture. He was 21 years old and the son of Albert Cornelius and Hattie Laughlin and left a widow, Glenys Blodwen Laughlin of Wanstead, Essex. He is buried in Hotton War Cemetery, Belgium.
