William Chaplin enlisted on 7 September 1914. Serving with the Royal Munster Fusiliers, he entered the Balkan theatre of war on 9 July 1915. He was discharged due to sickness on 19 May 1916 and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied m.i.c. and roll extract.
