Thomas Parrott was born in Aldershot, Hampshire on 16 March 1883. A Cabin Boy by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class and Bugler on 16 March 1907 and was advanced to Boy 1st Class in June 1899. He was promoted to Ordinary Seaman in March 1901 when at Vivid I and Able Seaman in May 1904 when on Montagu. During the Great War he was based at Hecla, August 1914-June 1916; Victory I, June-August 1916; Glory (North Russia service), August 1916-October 1917; Victory I, October 1917-June 1918 and President III (Defensively Armed Merchant Ships), July 1918-September 1919. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in May 1919. Invalided from the service in January 1921 suffering from eye problems. With copied service papers.
