Italy, Bartolommeo Pendalia, c.1462, a bronze medal by Sperandio of Mantua, bust left in flat cap and robe, rev. nude male figure seated on cuirass, holding globe and spear, foot on money bag, 84mm (Kress 112; Armand I, 71/32; Middeldorf [Morgenroth] 45). Very fine; a later aftercast with a good portrait, pierced (£250-280)

Bartolommeo Pendalia, merchant of Ferrara. Pollard describes Sperandio as ‘masterly in his portraits but careless in both composition and execution and unoriginal in conception’
