George IV (1820-1830), Proof or Pattern Halfcrown, 1824, in copper, edge plain, 6h (ESC 641). Practically as struck, extremely rare (£800-1000)

The ESC rarity rating suggests 11 to 20 examples known. Clearly a trial striking for the new currency coinage of 1825, the cataloguer believes it is unlikely that as many as 20 copper proofs were struck and it is quite possible the number of surviving specimens does not reach double figures

The ESC reference is 641
