29 November 2001

Estimate: £80–£20

Mariniana, Antoninianus, Rome, veiled and draped bust right, rev. Mariana seated on peacock flying right, 3.91g (RIC 6; C 14). Obverse very fine with a bold portrait, but reverse poorly struck and with some encrustation (£80-120)

Practically nothing is known of Egnatia Mariniana, wife of Valerian. All the coins are commemorative, suggesting she died before her husband became emperor
