Volunteer Force Long Service (2), V.R. (Sergt. John George, C. Compy. 3rd V.B. Somt. L.I., Jany. 1869 Augt. 1895 Armr. Sergt. F. King, 1st V.B. Dorset Regt.) engraved naming, both mounted as worn, first with faint scratch to obverse, good very fine (2) £120-160

John George was born in Wells, Somerset in 1838. Employed as a Bootmaker. His Volunteer Force Long Service Medal awarded per A.O. January 1895. He died at Wells in 1917, aged 79 years.

Francis King was born in Blandford, Dorset in 1816. Employed as a Gunmaker; though the 1861 Census records him being a Gunmaker and Musician. His Volunteer Force Long Service Medal awarded per A.O. April 1895 - Francis King being aged 79 years at the time of the award. Sadly he died at Blandford 6 months later in 1895. Both with copied research.
