Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Salamanca, Vittoria, Toulouse (A. McMullen, 5th Dragoon Guards) edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine £1000-1200

Arthur McMullen was born in Antrim. A Paper maker by occupation, he attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards at Belfast on 22 July 1810, aged 17 years. With the regiment he served in latter part of the Peninsular War. Listed as having deserted, February-August 1815. Discharged in 1837 being found ‘unfit for further service in consequence of an enlargement of the right testicle caused by an accident when employed with his horse in 1834 and general disability from long service’. With copied service papers.
