Frank Smith was born in and enlisted at Leeds, West Yorkshire. Serving in the 10th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 1 July 1916 - the first day of the battle of the Somme. His body was recovered and buried in the Fricourt New Military Cemetery. Frank Smith was the son of Mrs Eliza Smith, of 15 Cliff Terrace, Hyde Park, Leeds. With copied research and a modern photograph of his headstone; with cap badge added for display purposes.
