James Smith was born in and enlisted at Bradford, initially serving in the Northumberland Fusiliers. Serving with the 6th Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he died of wounds on 13 October 1917 and was buried in the Godewaersvelde British Cemetery, Nord, France. He was the husband of Mrs S. E. Smith, of 11 Holdsworth Road, New Road Side, Wyke, Bradford, West Yorkshire. Medals with registered envelope addressed as above; plaque with slip in card envelope.
