Fred Escreet was born in and enlisted at Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Serving in the 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 9 September 1915. He was killed in action on 26 September 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
