George Albert Laybourne enlisted at Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Serving in the 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 18 April 1915. He was killed in action on 28 May 1915, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Rachel E. Laybourne, of 9 Auboro’ Street, Scarborough, and the late Henry Laybourne. With ‘T5 Green Howards’ title badge.
