Edwin James enlisted on 4 March 1909. As a Lance-Corporal in the Coldstream Guards, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 August 1914. He was discharged on 5 July 1916 suffering from chronic gastritis and was awarded the Silver War Badge (not in lot). With copied m.i.c. and roll extract.
