Thomas Prince Lloyd was born in Templemore, Ireland on 25 July 1841. Educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. In July 1861 he was appointed an Ensign without purchase in the 15th (East Yorkshire) Regiment; in August the same year he transferred as an Ensign to the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders, again without purchase, joining them in India in November 1861. Appointed Lieutenant by purchase in November 1864. Returning to England in 1869, Lieutenant Lloyd exchanged to the 2nd Battalion 60th Royal Rifles in March 1871. With them he returned to the East Indies in 1872 and was promoted to Captain in June 1879. In September 1879 he transferred to the Army Pay Corps but retained his position serving in the 2/60th Royal Rifles. As such he served in the Second Afghan War. Appointed Honorary Major in September 1884 and appointed Hon. Major and Paymaster to the Yorkshire Regiment in 1885 he saw service in Egypt; the regiment being actively involved at the battle of Ginnis, 30 December 1885. Appointed Staff Paymaster in January 1890. As a Major he was appointed Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in April 1895, retiring in April 1899. Lieutenant-Colonel Lloyd died of an apoplectic seizure at his home in Dover on 4 May 1904. With copied research.
