Samuel Westerman was born in and enlisted at Leeds. Serving with the 8th Battalion West Riding Regiment, he died on the Mediterranean on 12 June 1916, aged 38 years. His name is commemorated on the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. He was the son of Samuel and Susan Westerman, of Leeds and husband of Martha Westerman, of 19 Bachelor Street, Leeds. Private John Sloan, 1/4th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, entered the Balkan theatre of war on 6 June 1915. His Star was re-issued in 1920. With copied m.i.c. Private Allan Wallace, Durham Light Infantry, enlisted on 10 March 1915 and entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 9 October 1915. He was discharged on 17 October 1916 and awarded the Silver War Badge. With copied m.i.c. and roll extract.
