Canada General Service 1866-70, 1 clasp, Fenian Raid 1866 (Lieut. J. W. Marshall, 4th 60th K.R.R.C.) officially impressed naming, edge bruising, good very fine £500-600

John William Marshall was born on 30 March 1839, the son of John and Frances Marshall, of Riseholme Grange, Lincoln. Educated at Grantham Grammar School. Commissioned an Ensign by purchase in the 4th Battalion 60th Rifles on 27 March 1858. Gained the rank of Lieutenant by purchase in September 1860. Served in Canada during the Fenian Raid of 1866 for which he was ultimately awarded the above medal. He left the Army by the sale of his commission in 1867. Latterly living at Westrop, Highworth, Wiltshire, he died on 1 January 1919. With copied papers relating to his family and service.
