Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Ava (J. Warren, 45th Foot.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, edge bruise, otherwise better than very fine £800-1000

James Warren was born in the Parish of St Margaret’s, Leicester, and attested for the 45th Foot at London on 2 April 1825, aged 16 years. He served overseas with the 45th Foot in the East Indies from 29th September 1825 until 1 November 1837, when he transferred to the 16th Foot, also then stationed in India. He was promoted to Hospital Sergeant in June 1843, serving subsequently at Gibraltar from February 1846, and in the Ionian islands from March 1847. He was discharged on 23 May 1843 being unfit for further services. Sold with copied discharge papers.
