Robert Bence, born in Chorley, Lancashire in 1884. Served in the Boer War with the 13th Hussars. As a Private in the 11th Hussars he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. Later served in the Corps of Dragoons. Was awarded the 1914 Star trio of medals. Transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 14 April 1919. With copied m.i.c. and roll extract.
