Elizabeth II (1952- ), Proof Two Pounds, 1994, in gold, Tercentenary of Bank of England, muled with the obv. of the Double-Sovereign (S 4314A). Brilliant; in case of issue, very rare £600-800

The correct obverse for the type has the denomination below the bust (S 4261). An unknown number of the 1,000 coins issued were struck using the wrong obverse and when the mistake was discovered, the Royal Mint contacted purchasers asking them to return the error coins for replacement with the correct design. It is not known exactly how many exist but probably no more than 400
