Light scuffing in fields, otherwise extremely fine and brilliant, rare; in original lizard-skin case fitted to house the Proof Guinea and Half-Guinea £2,000-3,000

On 19 September 1787 the Master of the Mint, Lord Effingham, authorised Lewis Pingo to strike 168 two-coin gold proof sets, of which figure 100 sets were destined to be presented to the directors of the Bank of England (Eimer, p.71; Manville, BNJ 2004, p.90)
