Robert Kent was born in Nafferton, East Yorkshire. A Railway Porter by occupation, he attested for the Coldstream Guards at Sunderland on 17 December 1896, aged 23 years, 2 months. With them he served in Gibraltar, March-October 1899 and South Africa, October 1899-July 1902. Imprisoned for a few weeks in 1902 for drunkenness when on active service. Discharged on 16 December 1908 on completion of his first period of service. He attested for the Territorial Force at Hull in August 1914 and was posted to the 4th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. With them he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 17 April 1915. Transferred to the Military Foot Police in April 1917. Disembodied on 26 June 1919. Robert Kent died on 25 February 1946.
