Albert B. Beatson was commissioned an Ensign in the Bengal Army in 1840. Promoted to Lieutenant in 1845, he served in the Sutlej Campaign (Medal), was present at the capture of Kote Kangra, 1846; did duty with the 1st Bengal Fusiliers before Delhi in September 1857 and was present at the storm and capture of that city on 16 September 1857 (Medal and clasp). Attained the rank of Major-General in June 1885.
