Alfred Dickson was born in Aberdeen. A Butcher by occupation, he attested for the Seaforth Highlanders at Edinburgh on 14 June 1890, aged 18 years, 11 months. With the 2nd Battalion he served in India, September 1891-March 1897. Transferred to the Reserve in June 1897. Recalled to the Colours in October 1899, he then served in South Africa, October 1899-August 1902. Additionally awarded the Q.S.A. with five clasps. Discharged 12 August 1902. With copied service papers.
