Sidney Herbert Harding was born in Hornsey, London on 5 July 1884. A Carman by occupation, he enlisted into the Chatham Division of the Royal Marines on 18 March 1901. Discharged to the R.F.R. in July 1914. He was soon recalled and served with the R.N.D. at Dunkirk, the defence of Antwerp and also at Ostend. He then served in the Chatham Division, August-December 1916 and at H.M.S. Crescent, January 1917-February 1919. Demobilised in April 1919. With copied service papers and roll extract. Clasp issued 28 June 1920.
