Gary Turnbull Clark was born in St. Leonard’s, Edinburgh in 1894. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 23 August 1914. The battalion formed part of the 10th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division, in Pulteney’s III Army Corps. Involved in the action at Le Cateau, the retreat from Mons and the battles of the Marne and Aisne. Clark was killed in action at Mailly Maillet, N.E. of Amiens, on 25 June 1916 during a German bombardment of the Seaforths positions south of the Mailly-Forceville road. He was buried in Mailly Wood Cemetery. Aged 22 years at the time of his death, he was the son of Thomas and Jane Clark, of 7 St. Leonards Hill, Edinburgh. With copied research - clasp not confirmed.
