Francis Edwin Piesse was born in St. Giles and lived at Hounslow. He enlisted at King’s Cross with the 4th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. Entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 September 1914. Served in the 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Division, in Smith-Dorrien’s II Army Corps. Piesse later transferred to the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers. Serving in Gallipoli, he was killed in action on 23 May 1915, aged 20 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Elizabeth Piesse, of 48 Euston Street, Euston Square, London. With copied m.i.c. - clasp not confirmed.
