Private James Donaldson enlisted on 1 June 1915 and served with the 10th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, entering the France/Flanders theatre of war on 14 October 1915. He was discharged due to sickness on 3 July 1917 and awarded the Silver War Badge. With original named medal card box lid and copied m.i.c. and roll, extract.

Private John Kerr Donaldson, Machine Gun Corps, died of wounds on 6 August 1917, aged 30 years. He was buried in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen. With card box of issue in registered envelope addressed to Mr J. Donaldson, 1 Sandport, Kinross; plaque with card envelope and registered envelope addressed as above - box and envelopes damaged. Also with copied m.i.c.
