Three: Private William Price, Herefordshire Regiment, late Shropshire Light Infantry

Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private W. Price, S.L.I.) last letter of surname over-stamped; Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Driefontein (3098 Pte. W. Price, 2: Shrops: Lt. Inft.); British War Medal (1740 Pte. W. Price. Hereford. R.) the first with minor edge bruising, very fine, otherwise good very fine (3) £1400-1800

William Price was born in the Parish of St Peters, Hereford, and enlisted into the Shropshire Light Infantry at Shrewsbury on 21 September 1899. He served in Hong Kong during the plague, in India, and in South Africa during the Boer War, and was discharged on 2 April 1902. He re-enlisted into the 1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment, on 8 August 1914, and served at Suvla Bay and Gallipoli from 28 August 1915. Also entitled to 1914-15 Star and Victory medal. Sold with further research.
