James H. Vinson was born in St. Anne’s, Lewes, Sussex. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Rifle Brigade on 6 June 1865, aged 19 years. With them he served in Canada, September 1869-September 1870. In April 1876 he transferred to the K.R.R.C. and in April the following year was transferred to the Militia. He continued to serve to 1886. and was awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal. latterly awarded the Canada G.S.M. With copied service papers and other research.
