Pair: Lieutenant S. H. B. Emus, Royal Air Force, late Royal Flying Corps, who flew operationally with No. 142 Squadron in Palestine in 1918

Sydney Harold Boyer Emus, who was born in August 1898, was employed as a wholesale meat salesman in London prior to entering the Royal Flying Corps for pilot training in May 1917.

Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant that August, he was embarked for Egypt in the following month and, having qualified for his “Wings”, was posted to No. 142 Squadron as a Flying Officer in March 1918. Having then flown operationally in R.E. 8s in the Palestine campaign, he was placed on the Unemployed List in February 1919; sold with copied research and photograph.
