H.M.S. Valiant was not present in operations during the Second China War 1857-60.

There are several men on the published roll with this name, none of whom were entitled to the above clasp; one of them, a Gunner’s Mate who served in H.M.S. Firm, was entitled to the clasps for Canton 1857 and Taku Forts 1858; sold with copied research.
