Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (5180 Color-Sergt. A. Hardy, 1st Bn. Coldstm. Guards) with ornate silver brooch bar, cleaned, some pitting (fire damage?) to reverse, very fine £80-100

Alfred Hardy was born in Thorpe, near Norwich. A Bricklayer by occupation, he attested for the Coldstream Guards at Norwich on 24 January 1855, aged 20 years, 8 months. Promoted to Corporal, October 1858; Serjeant, May 1965, Colour-Serjeant, June 1868; reverted to Serjeant, March 1871 and re-appointed Colour-Serjeant in January 1872. He was discharged on 23 March 1876 having completed his second period of service. He was awarded the L.S. & G.C. with £10 gratuity. Colour-Serjeant Hardy was appointed Instructor to the 19th Middlesex R.V. Corps in April 1876, a position he held until June 1893. With copied service papers.
