Seven: Private J. C. James, Australian Army Service Corps, late Royal Australian Engineers

1939-45 Star; Africa Star, clasp, 8th Army; Pacific Star, unnamed as issued; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45, these three officially inscribed, ‘VX 29848 J. C. James’; Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Australia (VX 29848 Pte. J. C. James, A.I.F.), this last with minor edge bruise, otherwise good very fine (7) £250-300

James Charles James was born in West Brunswick, Victoria, in October 1915, and enlisted in the Australian Military Forces at Yarraville in June 1940. Posted to the Royal Australian Engineers, he was embarked for the Middle East as a reinforcement for the 2nd Railway Construction Company in September 1941, and was subsequently employed in operations in Palestine, Egypt and Syria. Having then returned to Sydney in early 1943, he transferred to the 11th Company, Australian Army Service Corps, and served in New Guinea and Borneo. He was discharged in October 1945 and was awarded the Efficiency Medal in the following (Commonwealth Gazette 24 October 1946, refers); sold with brief service details.
