George Henry Fowler, who was born in Burton-on-Trent and enlisted at Ashford, Kent, where he lived, was embarked for France in mid-January 1915. He died on active service about a month later, on 16 February 1915, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment. The son of George and Elizabeth Fowler of “West View”, Dering Road, Ashford, he was 21 years of age and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
