C.B. London Gazette 31 December 1981.

George Maxted Kenneth Brewer was born in Dover in March 1930, the son of Captain George Maxted Brewer, R.N., and was educated at Pangbourne College, before entering the Royal Navy as a Cadet in 1949.

His first command was the destroyer H.M.S.
Carysfort, in which capacity he witnessed active service off the Malay Peninsula in 1964-65 (Medal & clasp), followed by an appointment in another destroyer, the Grenville, also out in the Far East, in addition to Mediterranean, in 1967-69. Having then served in the cruiser Juno, and as Captain of the Fourth Frigate Squadron on the Home and Mediterranean Stations in 1973-74, Brewer served as Director of Naval Warfare in 1976-78 and as Flag Captain to the Flag Officer Second Flotilla, Far East. His final seagoing appointment was in the commando and helicopter carrier Bulwark in the N.A.T.O. area.

Awarded the Jubilee Medal in 1977 (the official roll refers), he was appointed an A.D.C. to the Queen in January 1980, and ended his career as Flag Officer Medway and Port Admiral Chatham, being placed on the Retired List as a Rear-Admiral in September 1982. He died in September 1998.
