Approximately 50 medals with the dated reverse were issued, mostly to men of Lord Strathcona's Horse.
Cuthbert Chamberlain Malet was born at Basford, Nottinghamshire, in 1879, son of John Thomas and Elizabeth Hill Malet. He died at Singapore on 2 July 1944, aged 65, and is commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission roll of Civilian War Dead.
