Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (4658 Driv. D. Boo[c]ock, C. Bat. 4th Bde. R.A.) with replacement fixed straight bar suspension, edge drilled at 6 o’clock, edge bruising, contact marks, about very fine £80-100

David Boocock was born in Burnley, Lancashire. A Carter by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Preston on 6 April 1876, aged 24 years, 10 months. With the artillery he served in India, October 1876-January 1888 - the Afghanistan Medal being his only award. He was discharged in April 1888, having completed his period of service - at this time his character was said to be ‘Indifferent. He is addicted to drink. He is not a smart soldier but is respectful to his officers.’ With copied service papers.
