William Haddrell was born in Calne, Wiltshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 38th Infantry Brigade at Devizes on 31 January 1878. Posted to the 99th Regiment, he served in South Africa, December 1878-December 1879; Bermuda, December 1879-March 1881; South Africa, March-December 1881 and India, December 1881-March 1884. Having been discharged having completed his period of service, he attested for short service in the Royal Reserve Regiment at Devizes on 20 March 1900, aged 59 years. He was discharged having completed his service on 19 March 1901. With copied service papers.
