A Medal for Combat Service group to Junior Lieutenant Boris Sergeevich Abramov, 769th Fighter Aviation Regiment, 122 Aviation Division, Soviet Air Force

Medal for Combat Service, 2nd type, reverse impressed, ‘195752’; Medal for the Defence of Leningrad; Medal for Victory over Germany 1945; with ‘Red Banner’ badge, base gilt metal and enamel, screw-backed and a cloth badge, very fine and better (5) £100-140

Boris Sergeevich Abramov was born in Ryazhsk, Ryazan Oblast, in 1921. He joined the Soviet Air Force in July 1941, aged 20 years. He became an Aviation Ordnance Mechanic with 769 Fighter Aviation Regiment, 122 Aviation Division. Towards the end of 1942 he was recommended for the Medal for Combat Service. The award took place on 30 January 1943. In 1945, aged 24 years, he was commissioned as a Junior Lieutenant and became a Pilot, flying Yakovlev Yak-9 fighter planes. He became a member of the Leningrad Guards Fighter Aviation Corps.
