Cecil Stanley Cox, who was born in August 1912, enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment in October 1930 and saw active service out on the North-West Frontier 1935-37, and in Palestine, prior to the outbreak of hostilities. Having then been employed in operations in North Africa, he was taken P.O.W. at Fregleano, Italy, on 19 January 1944 and incarcerated in Stalag IVB at Muhlburg and subsequently at Stalag IIA at New Brandenburg. He was liberated on 7 April 1945 (accompanying copied P.O.W. debrief refers).
