Ronald R. M. Hall, who was born in September 1849, entered the Royal Navy as a cadet in Britannia in September 1862, and was advanced to Sub. Lieutenant in September 1868 and to Lieutenant in September 1872. Having then witnessed active service off Egypt in H.M.S. Iris in 1882 (Medal; Khedive’s Star), he was advanced to Commander in June 1887 and transferred to the Coast Guard in July 1891, in which capacity he served as an Intelligence Office at Queenstown in the early 1900s. Placed on the Retired List as a Captain in the summer of 1902, he took up the appointment of Deputy Governor of the R.N. Prison, Portsmouth, and remained employed in that capacity until October 1910. The Captain died in early 1929; sold with copied service record.
