An unusual Great War M.M. group of six awarded to Marechal des Logis L. C. Champanac, 19th Train des Equipages Militaires, who was attached to the British Army as a Liaison Officer

France, Croix de Guerre 1914-1918, with bronze star riband fitment; Croix du Combattant; War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal; Verdun Commemorative Medal 1916; Great Britain, Military Medal, G.V.R., unnamed as issued to foreign recipients, together with a bronze and enamel Anglo-French badge, good very fine (7) £300-350

Louis Charles Champanac was awarded the M.M. in War Office List No. 49 of 1 December 1919.

Sold with three original documents, comprising French General Orders announcing the awards of his M.M. and Croix de Guerre, the latter dated 14 May 1919, and Verdun Commemorative Medal certificate, which reveals he had earlier served in the 170th Infantry Regiment; together with copied research and related correspondence.
