M.C. London Gazette 13 September 1945. The original recommendation states:

‘During the period under review - 16 August to 15 November 1944 - this officer has proved himself to be an outstanding Platoon Commander and has rendered consistent and gallant service throughout the whole of the operations on the west and later on the east bank of the Chindwin River. He has led his platoon with a complete disregard for his personal safety, inspiring his men with confidence by his personal bravery. As a patrol leader he has carried out with marked success the many and difficult patrol tasks which he has been given, skilfully and courageously penetrating the enemy defended positions and never failing to bring back information of value.’
