James Ireton was born on 31 December 1869. During the Great War he served in the 1/4th Battalion Royal Lancashire Regiment and later served in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. He died on 1 November 1949.

Frank Howarth Ireton was born on 24 January 1923, the son of James and Eleanor Maud Ireton, of Borwick, Lancashire. As a Second Radio Officer aboard the S.S.
Cliftonhall, of West Hartlepool, he died on 12 June 1942, aged 19 years. The Cliftonhall, en route from Alexandria and Aden to Cape Town and Chile, was torpedoed and sunk by the Japanese submarine I.20 in the Mozambique Channel. His name is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.
