Pair: Drummer J. Griggs, Grenadier Guards

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (4459 Drumr., 2/Gren. Gds.) clasp lacking backstrap; Khedive’s Star, 1882, unnamed, first with edge bruising and contact marks, fine; second very fine (2) £120-150

Joseph Griggs was born in London. He attested as a Boy, aged 12 years, on 16 May 1873. Posted as a Drummer in February 1880. Served in Egypt, July-November 1882. Claimed his discharge on 12 January 1889. Griggs re-enlisted on 21 February 1889, serving in the Royal Scots. With them he served in Malta and in India. Transferred to the Army Reserve in January 1897, he was discharged in November 1899.
